Bariloche

San Carlos de Bariloche, although many Brazilians may not know it, is the gateway to Patagonia. It is located on the southern shore of Lake Nahuel Huapi and surrounded by Nahuel Huapi National Park, in the province of Río Negro. In 2012, it was declared the national capital of adventure tourism, and in 2015, the national capital of chocolate.

Here, the seasons follow one another with warm and long summer days, the multicolored spectacle of spring and autumn, and the incredible sensations brought by winter, when the magic of snow is ever-present.

Among the many options this generous landscape offers are fly fishing, skiing, trekking, mountaineering, windsurfing, golf, or simply the pleasure of resting and enjoying a beautiful view. During winter, the city and its surroundings become a perfect destination for snow sports at the complete winter resort Cerro Catedral – one of the most important and modern in South America – just a few kilometers from a wide variety of restaurants, shopping centers, and nightlife venues, combining the activities of a large city with a natural environment that is unique in the world.

With a tourist history of eight decades and the experience of welcoming around 700,000 tourists per year, Bariloche has developed options to suit all tastes and services to meet the most demanding expectations.

International-level hotels, inns, cabins, and youth hostels are part of this diverse offering, providing friendly service and excellent service standards. In the city and surrounding areas, there are over 300 lodging establishments of various categories, totaling 20,000 beds. Organized campsites and mountain shelters remain open during the summer. Camping is also allowed in designated areas of Nahuel Huapi National Park.

To enjoy delicious cuisine, more than 200 establishments including restaurants, steakhouses, pubs, bars, and tea houses offer typical Patagonian dishes: trout, wild boar, venison, stew, international cuisine, and the traditional Argentine barbecue.
