Torres del Paine National Park
The Torres del Paine National Park is located in the heart of Southern Patagonia and was declared a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1978. Torres del Paine is one of the most impressive natural geographic spectacles on Earth. The area that the Torres del Paine Park covers is 182,000 hectares and is the crown jewel of Chile’s tourism.
Only after traveling 4.5 hours by plane from Santiago and then an additional 5 hours by car to reach Torres del Paine will you be able to experience the incredible sight of this monumental set of peaks that appear to stand alone in the middle of an otherwise flat plateau. Torres del Paine includes a central massif of the "Cuernos del Paine" (Paine horns), covered in snow at varying altitudes, offering support to massive blue-white ice blocks, also known as hanging glaciers, and three other towers – which are the actual Torres del Paine (Paine Towers).
The sight of the nearly vertical rock faces rising to an altitude of about 3,000 meters is what creates such an inspiring view. For outdoor enthusiasts, Torres del Paine is a must-see before you die.
